Diving around Paris

Messages recommandés

Is it anybody diving from/around Paris all year around? I am going to stay in Paris from 5th to 17th December. I do dive in cold conditions in Lithuania. I could take my equipment if I knew I will use it. Usually dive with sidemount 2x12 +deco gas. Level technical, advance nitrox, 45m, deco, more than 400 dives. I could take only my dry suite for fun dive with one bottle or twinset too.. The most important for me to get wet in that period. Any suggestions?

Hi !

I live near Paris and in my opinion you shouldn't bother taking all your diving gear with you.

There's not any interesting diving spot in Paris area, no lake (or else) worth diving.

The closest spots need a 3h car trip. I think it's not worth it (in my opinion).

If you really want to dive in Paris, there are two diving pools in Charenton (depth : 15m) and Villeneuve La Garenne (20m). You'll just need a bathing suit, dive computer, mask and finns. But you'll have to find a buddy.

Thank you a lot for reply. 3h by car for me it is bit too much, as I need to rent a car. But there we sometime drive over 300km for a good dive ;)

Pool. Hmm.. not really interesting, but if this is only possibility get wet.. never been in pool deeper then 5 meters ;)

So you stop diving till the spring? That to do for narcosis addict diver??

Hello,

There are also some quarries about 3 hours drive (http://opeps.azurtekdive.com, http://www.becon-plongee-maitai.fr, http://esox-diving.fr, etc.). And the Channel with its wrecks of the D-Day, between 2 and 4 hours of road. The only club near the Channel that I know of is a non-commercial structure (http://www.arromanches-plongee.org).

To be precise, there is a quarry near Paris where we can dive (http://www.lacbeaumontsuroise-ffessmidfp.fr). But this one is reserved for the clubs. You can not go there by saying: "Hello, I want to dive and pay for this."

As Txum said, parisian people dive in swimming pool during the winter (and spring, summer, autumn too), and take the train or the car to go in quarries, the Channel, Mediterranean Sea, Brittany or the plane to go further :)

In your place, I won't take my diving gear. But I take this opportunity to organize a trip in France only dedicated to diving (English Channel, Brittany, Mediterranean Sea, or - why not - quarries).

I have checked all the information. I guess it will be tricky with diving in sea because the non season/ hard weather season. Three quarries is pretty interesting, but bit too far..

This is very interesting for me: http://www.lacbeaumontsuroise-ffessmidfp.fr. Thats the name of place? That is max depth? 30? Is it moon bottom or there is something to see?

It's mud at the bottom, but there are plenty species. This is what I was told ... I only went to train other divers, and only saw this car and clouds of mud :D

But, as I said before, you cannot go there and dive. This quarry is reserved to members of clubs. No dive shop there. Sorry :confus:

:+1: ...

For D-Day Wrecks, there is also http://asnelles-plongee-leo-lagrange.com/ but I don't know if they're open during winter.

It's about 3h away from Paris by car.

Well, as Sacrebleu said, you can't dive there by yourself.

It's a private quarry belonging to french underwater federation. You have to be a member of an affiliated diving club (and even if you are, you can't dive without other members of your club).

Quarries of Becon-les-Granits or La-Roche-en-Brénil are fine, but need a 3h car trip, nearly 4h for Becon.

These are private quarries as well and you'll need at least a buddy to dive there.

Another possibility is Zeeland (Netherlands). 3 to 4 hours drive from Paris, but some advantages:

-Diving from the shore (more than 100 spots).

-Fauna and flora

-No restrictive laws

-Solo diving allowed

-Numerous B & B

-Possibility of leased equipment

-Automatic bottles inflating system

Optimization of Decompression Diving: A Comparative Analysis of Reduced vs. Traditional Decompression Stop Protocols Charle H. Anguille-Turbo George P. Threadfin   Abstract   This study investigates the efficacy of reduced decompression stop protocols in comparison to traditional decompression diving practices. Decompression diving involves ascending from underwater depths while making scheduled stops to allow inert gases to safely off-gas from the diver's tissues. The
